Stored Product Pest Pre-Treatment
All pets must be removed from the treated area for a minimum of 4 hours after the treatment.
Aquarium – cover, turn off air-intake pump during treatment.
All cupboards and drawers in the affected area must be emptied. All liners such as “mac tac” must be removed prior to treatment.
Food items must be carefully inspected. Even apparently unopened items may be contaminated.Your technician can help you inspect your food items to determine the extent of the infestation.
It is recommended that any potentially contaminated food items be disposed of to prevent reinfestation.
After treatment, cupboard and drawers should be lined with an appropriate impermiable liner, wax paper works well. Adhesive liners such as “mac tac” are not recommended as some stored product pests may actually feed on the glue used.
Items may be replaced after 24 hours, provided treated surfaces have been lined. Again, wax paper makes a quick and cost effective liner. If desired, surfaces may be washed down 30 days after treatment. 30 days are required to break the life cycle of many stored product pests.
It may require a full 30 days for treatment to be successful. If all contaminated food products have not been disposed of reinfestation may occur, so it is recommended to err on the side of caution when inspecting and disposing of potentially contaminated food items.
